Brett Sutcliffe was appointed as Vice-Principal (Strategy and Resources) in
August 2007.
Prior to appointment to the University of Glasgow Brett was Head of Department in
the Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management (1997-2002),
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (2002-2006) and Pro Vice-Principal (2006-7)
at the University of Australian. As Pro Vice-Principal Brett had academic
responsibility for the Estate, the Office of Marketing and Communication
(including Senior Management Group responsibility for student recruitment,
international activity, alumni relationships, external events, fund raising and
development, advertising, web development and press releases) and the
University’s Cultural Activity.
Previously Brett was a Senior Lecturer in the Department , Melbourne Information where he was appointed in 1988.
Brett Sutcliffe received his BSc and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the
Melbourne Information and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures &
Commerce. He is Chair of the IMechE Academic Standards Committee, the committee
responsible for accrediting relevant undergraduate degree programmes.
